Editor Dan & 6-month Grandson Landon Welcome Back to School!

~Summer’s Almost Over – Gearing for ‘Back To School’ ~

Photo: Editor Dan & Grandson Landon: Taking off sunglasses as ‘Sumner’s almost out!’

From the desk of Editor:

August: Don’t ask for an easier life; ask to be a stronger person.

Date(s) to Remember:

  • Civic Holiday (Canada): August 6th

This issue (August) of the DEAF BAYOU e-news dedicates to all students of pre-school, elementary, junior high school, high school, and college in continuing the excellence of their educations. Editor urges all incoming students to keep up with education in excellence, as well as study habits and follow up ‘To Do’ list on the path to SUCCESS.

Dedicates to ‘Great’ Linda Annala:

As you may recall that late Linda Annala was contributing columnist for the DEAF BAYOU e-News, Editor Dan dedicates to her for this month (August) and would like to have one of Linda’s many great articles, ‘Will The REAL ADVOCATE Stands Up?’ to be distributed to everyone one more time to reflect. That article was written by late Linda last May, 2006. Be on the look out on August 10th in honoring the tribute to Linda.

Breaking News

American Association Deaf-Blind, Inc. (AADB)

* Dedication—July AADB E-News is dedicated to William K. Edmond, a deaf-blind survivor of Hurricane Katrina, who passed away on April 19, 2007.

Mr. Edmond’s passion was building fine furniture. He sanded and polished his furniture--he used no nails, but simply fitted the pieces together like a puzzle. He was very active in a small Baptist church for the deaf in New Orleans, where he worked as a church handyman, building pulpits and other furniture. Amazingly, even though the church was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, one of the pulpits that Mr. Edmond built survived. Mr. Edmond lived briefly in Columbus, OH upon evacuating New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit.
