A Note from Lynn Blanchard, ABL Executive Director |
|
Dan
It was my pleasure to be there and participate in this. I didn't write my speech out however, I spoke from the heart.
I basically thanked everyone involved for including myself and ABL for being asked to participate. I spoke on the fact that we provide some services and know that many more services are needed. We are constantly looking for funding sources to provide more services to the deaf-blind.
I also expressed thanks to you Dan for your advocacy and assisting in letting everyone know the needs of the deaf-blind. I also stead that the deaf-blind community is part of the Acadiana community and they are the second highest incidence of Usher's syndrome in the world, second only to Sweden. I asked them to embrace the community because indeed deaf-blind again are a part of the Acadiana community and asked for any assistance in finding funding for services such as SSP services. I closed again with a thank you to everyone especially the deaf-blind community that I have come to know for sharing in this occasion.
