This issue (July) of the DEAF BAYOU e-news dedicates to America’s 231st that declared the independence signed by ex-1st U.S. President George Washington on July 4, 1776. Why the 4th? Though the Fourth of July is almost iconic to Americans... day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. Historic Deaf-Blind Rally: As you may recall that there were historic Deaf-Blind Rally at the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf board meeting last June 1st, a full story will be released soon especially deaf-blind key leaders’ ‘speak-out’ speeches and real-time TV news as well. Be on the look out for upcoming new release soon. Welcome Back Home Since Hurricane Katrina swept Ester McAllister, Sr. (SSD ’73) and his wife away from their home, New Orleans, they had been stayed in Maryland for two years. Until their home was finally repaired, they are so excited to be back to their ‘real’ home last week. Note: DEAF BAYOU Editor met Ester at the emergency preparation training class in Baton Rouge last Thursday; he seems that he is so happy to meet his old friends here. LSD boys had not won one since 1963 while LSD great, Jeff Lambrecht was there; Girls are aiming for seventh overall.
