-- AADB Office, AADB.org

Editor’s Note: There are many good leaders I am facing to take on the one of toughest challenges of running for AADB National Board I ever have; this will not be an easy task…Wishing the Louisianan gets ONE and the best of luck! Go LoUiSiAna!

Gearing For a Battle:

Eight months away, there will possibly have rematch of Governor Kathleen Blanco (Democrat) & Bobby Jindal (Republican) running for Louisiana Governor, one of the state’s hottest races that will be elected this upcoming October

Governor Blanco has deaf-blind nephew, Baron Babineaux, Jr. who is a good friend of the Editor; Baron went to ABL Training Center with the Editor, and we had enjoyed activities like bowling, fishing, Governor Mansion visit, & more in the past years.

SPORTS

Louisiana School for the Deaf (LSD)

Basketball:

Girls Basketball team advanced into first round state playoff and eliminated by St. Joseph of Plaucheville… Look for these rising LSD stars to build from their learning experiences this season, and have a strong performance in 2007-08!

CODA (Children of Deaf Adults)

Co-captain Nikki Arabie, senior & her Lafayette High School (LHS) Mighty Lions varsity bowling team remain undefeated (5 – 0) and are sole possession for first place hoping a win over Acadiana High School (3-time defending district champions) today in which never beat them in 3 years. With 3 games left, they are seeking to claim first-ever district champions in its school history to receive higher seeding into the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) bowling state playoff, and the Final Four will be held in Baton Rouge. All opponents were bad beatings by LHS with all 20+ wins in match plays as follows:

  • LHS – 20 Teurlings Catholic – 7
  • LHS – 23 St. Thomas Moore – 4
  • LHS – 20 Comeaux – 7
  • LHS – 22 Carencro – 5
  • LHS – 23 Vermillion Catholic – 4
  • LHS Acadiana (today)
  • LHS Loreauville (3/8)
  • LHS Breaux Bridge (3/12)

So far, LHS are currently on a tear outscoring opponents by 108 – 27 in match plays!

Go Mighty Lions!

Nikki is a proud daughter of Dan Arabie (LSD ’80) & Cathy (Ezell) Royer (LSD ’79) and a proud aunt of Landon James (Editor’s grandson).
