The DEAF BAYOU e-news -LoUiSiAna’s e-newsletter for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, & Hard of Hearing community citizens Website: http://www.deafbayou.com/ Vol. 2 Issue 2 January, 2007 Dan Arabie, Editor Happy New Year 2007 ~ Enterin’ New Year! ~ From the desk of the Editor: January: Each life needs its own quiet place. Wishing you & your family & friends a holiday greeting to shine throughout your year! This issue (January) of the DEAF BAYOU e-news dedicates to pay the tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) as our national holiday that celebrates on Monday, January 15th MLK was born on January 15, 1929; now 77th year of his birth. MLK was a great man who worked for racial equality in the United States of America. If the honorable Martin Luther King, Jr. was still presented, he would say “go for the solutions” because it is within our own Deaf community and Deaf people… Being Ole Dan: Countdown being first-ever GRANDPA: 36 days left; my oldest daughter, Kirsten is having a baby BOY named Landon James, due on February 5th. DEAF BAYOU editor (Grandpa) will keep you posted when he arrives and will hand him football for a TOUCHDOWN! For sure, Grandpa will spike it for him afterward. AADB Bound: As you may recall that DEAF BAYOU editor intends to run for the American Association Deaf-Blind (AADB) national Board of Directors, the application for nominees were now closed yesterday and awaits the announcement to be released by the AADB office. Blaise Delahoussaye (LSD ’84) serves as chairperson of the AADB Elections Committee that is responsible for counting election ballots for the upcoming board elections. As of Friday, December 29th, I was acknowledged by AADB office that they have 11 candidates so far…in fact, I am facing one of the biggest challenge I ever have.
