Poem

A Life Restored

There he stood at the threshold of losing his wife
Watching his whole world collapse amidst the strife
His wife forcing an unwanted separation upon him
Threatening to tear his life apart on her whims.

He was grieved to the bottom of his heart and soul
He could not see his way clear, anguish took its toll
At the breaking point, he cried out to God in prayer
How can I get through this pain, how can I endure?

Then I heard a voice saying, “It shall pass! It shall pass!”
My grace is sufficient for you, I will make all things new
But before I can send you the refreshing heavenly dew
You must pass through the valley of the shadow of death.

As he prayed, the tears of God poured through his closed eyes
Unstoppable rivers of God’s emotions flowed down his cheeks
Releasing all his pain and suffering like a dam fully burst
Tears of joy, unspeakable joy, soothed and eased his grief.

On wings of an eagle, he was carried to the top of the mountain
Fed and nourished by that heavenly manna and given eyes to see
His life would be restored, hope within him welled up once again
Knowing that someone was waiting for him, to set his spirit free.

Then I heard a voice saying, “It is passing! It is passing!”
My grace is sufficient for you, I will make all things new.
Feed on the heavenly manna, drink the refreshing dew
Your walk through the valley of the shadow of death is o’er.

Trusting God, he searched his homeland to seek a new wife
God searched the world and gave him the desires of his life
There by the great waterfalls, God brought her to his side
Now man and wife, love and romance would forever abide.

Pure happiness welled up from within his heart and soul
He could see his way clear, love once again made him whole
At the overflowing point, he lifted his hands to God in prayer
How can I ever repay you, praise to God for a life restored.

Then I heard a voice saying, “It has passed! It has passed!”
My grace is sufficient for you, yesterday, today and tomorrow
I’ve restored your hopes and dreams, and made all things new
Continue your life journey and finish the race you have begun.
