A City in Love With 'Who Dat'

It was the first week of February and Mr. ILLY was in Orleans to do some clownin' around. He had several parties to attend to that week and was in kind of a rush as he wandered around in Orleans.

He knew the week was special in the city because there were a lot of stories in the sports pages of his local newspaper. Yeah, you got it, the pro football team known as the Louisiana S'aints, aka, 'Who Dat' was in the Super Duper Bowl that was to be played the following Sunday night against the Indiana Hosses.

As Mr. ILLY walked around downtown he could see everything was about the S'aints. Everywhere he looked there were gold and black banners hanging from balconies and windows high above the streets. And as he walked past clothes shops he even saw the familiar gold and black jerseys.

There were even billboards carrying pictures of several popular players including quarterback Donny Brezo, running back Ronny Rush, and defensive end Mike Masters, who all had played an important role in the teams march to the world championship game.

"Gee," he thought to himself, "Orleans sure has fallen in love with her team!"

As he thought of what his mind had just said he realized the game was being played exactly one week before Valentine's Day! "Wow," he thought, "no wonder this city has gone bananas over the team!" "Seems to me regardless of whether the S'aints win or lose the Super Duper Bowl, this city will still burst with pride. However, should the S'aints win the game, oh my, there would certainly be a human hurricane!" "I believe everyone will be huffing and puffing with all their lungs can afford and who knows it could become a record Category 10 hurricane!"

Mr. ILLY kept walking and then he saw a very unusual shop window display. However, what he saw was what he had figured all along about Orleans as there in the big window was an inflated jumbo balloon in the shape of a heart! Instead of the usual red color design was gold and black and in the middle of the heart in red letters were the words 'Who Dat'!

Entering the shop, Mr. ILLY saw it truly was a love haven for the team! Gold and black was everywhere in the shape of hearts. There were also banners and jerseys with players numbers. Mr. ILLY saw some candy and to his amazement, it too was gold and black!

Mr. ILLY bought a few things and left the store. As he walked back to his hotel he was deep in thought about what he had just seen.

"I guess Orleans is having a deep love affair with the S'aints and it should be like this because this city has really suffered for a long time, even before massive hurricane Katrina." "So it is proper that it should celebrate the way it is doing." "It is a happy city that is happy for life and it's team!"

Orleans has fallen in love with 'Who Dat'!
