Oh No, It's Ho, Ho, Ho Time Again!
Mr. ILLY was out at the mall one day and noticed a lot of cars and people there. Wondering what was going on and why there were so many folks hanging around the mall on a beautiful fall day, he kept walking until he saw right there in the middle of the lower level a beautiful display that could mean only one thing; people were at the mall cause it was time to visit Santa Claus!
The display Mr. ILLY had seen was a snow covered ground with Christmas trees and Santa Claus sitting under a porch-like shelter. There were also reindeer, including Rudolph, the famous red-nosed reindeer!
As he watched the hub-bub of children and parents lining up to talk to Santa, Mr. ILLY had an idea.
He was all dressed in his clown costume so he decided to get in line to go 'talk' to Mr. Claus! He was standing in line waiting on a little boy to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas. Mr. ILLY would be next to sit in the jolly man's lap.
However, while waiting in line, Mr. ILLY noticed to his surprise, this Santa and the little boy were both signing to each other! Then he looked around and saw other children and their parents using sign language!
"Well, I be," Mr. ILLY said to himself, using sign language.
A little girl standing behind Mr. ILLY noticed his signing and tapped him on the leg.
"Hi Clown," she signed, "who you talking to?"
Looking down at the little girl, his face shining bright with a smile, "Oops, I was signing to myself because I am surprised to see all these people signing and especially Mr. Claus!"
"Ha! ha!," laughed the little girl. "This Santa is only for us deaf children!" "Isn't that neat?"
"Yes, it sure is neat and sweet!" exclaimed Mr. ILLY.
Then the little girl was pushing Mr. ILLY forward and signing "Your turn!"
Caught off guard, Mr. ILLY looked at Santa and saw the little boy had jumped out of the big man's lap and Santa's helpers were gesturing to Mr. ILLY to approach Santa.
As he strode to Santa, the little girl behind Mr. ILLY pushed him to make him move faster. Then she sat Mr. ILLY on Santa's left leg while she climbed up on Santa's right leg.
"Ho, ho, ho," laughed Mr. Claus, "What can I do for you, Mr. Clown?"
"Hmmm.... how about making this little girl very happy and let's me and you put on a clown and Santa show together right here and right now!" exclaimed Mr. ILLY.
Seeing how the girl's face lit up into a beautiful smile, Santa Claus agreed with Mr. ILLY, jumped out of his chair and began dancing and waving his hands in the air with Mr. ILLY doing the same. The two men were really into dancing and signing with the children and soon all the people that were standing in line were also dancing and signing. Even Santa's helpers had forgotten what they were supposed to do and had started to dance, and sing with their voices.
Shoppers stopped to watch the awesome sight. They could see the clown and Santa were very happy men and had really inspired the crowd. Store clerks were standing in the doorways of their stores watching the excitement, some with jaws open wide!
While all this was going on, everyone was cheerfully having so much fun and this was something that was inspired on the spot. All the children were laughing and having so much fun!
So it became a very HO, HO, HO time for everyone!
