The Vet and the Turkey

It was the weekend before the 11th of November, which is always celebrated across America as Veteran's Day. This day is an important one as America goes out of its way to honor war veterans.

The weekend was showing promise of becoming a wonderful weekend weather wise and Mr. ILLY, the Deaf-Blind Clown was out and about enjoying the beautiful fall season and planning to attend a festival where he would be performing.

His ride would soon be arriving so Mr. ILLY had to kind of turn into a speed demon and get everything ready to take to the car. His driver would be Mr. Jon Goodman, a Gulf War veteran.

Mr. Goodman arrived and the two men loaded up the items Mr. ILLY needed for his performance at the festival.

As they arrived at the festival, Mr. ILLY took great pride in meeting some of Mr. Goodman's friends who were also Gulf War Vets.

Mr. ILLY would be performing soon and was free after his performance. He wanted to enjoy more time with the vets and talk more with them.

This festival also had animals and among the animals were turkeys. Before his performance, Mr. ILLY stopped by to see the turkeys and noted how beautiful they looked. There were many of them and it gave the impression the festival was actually a turkey farm!

All of a sudden someone started yelling, "Help, I need a doctor or vet to treat my prized turkey. I think he is sick!" "Is there a vet here at the festival?"

Mr. Goodman started running toward the turkey section and immediately offered himself to help.

When Mr. ILLY saw his friend and driver offering to help his mouth dropped open! "I never knew a vet could work with turkeys!" Mr. ILLY exclaimed.

"Oh, but we can!" Mr. Goodman said with glee. "I helped many an animal in Iraq when I was not busy fighting the enemy."

Puzzled, Mr. ILLY asked, "You mean you are a real vet as in veterinary?"

"Sure am," said Mr. Goodman. "I saved many an animal's life before being sent to Iraq and there continued to save lives of animals."

"Well, I be!" Mr. ILLY exclaimed again, "A vet who is a vet!"

"Well, what's wrong with this turkey?" asked the man who had yelled for help.

Jon Goodman looked at the turkey owner and said, "He sure is not sick and I am under the impression this big bird is getting ready to be eaten in two weeks or so! I think I will take him home with me!"
