Poem

Every Last Teardrop

You heard the story of a brave young indian's vision quest
How he fasted without food or water for four days out west
How he struggled to climb the mountain so that he could pray
For the Great Spirit to return his wife who had gone astray.

The famished climb up the frigid mountain was very hard
It pictured a difficult marriage which left his heart scarred
The gliding walk down the slushy mountainside was breezy
Signifying better times ahead, making his marriage easy.

Not fully understanding how his life's plan would unfold
He believed that his first wife was forever his to hold
But her troubled mind made her turn away from him
And soon hope for a loving reconciliation grew dim.

What was he to do, of his quest he never had a doubt
He trusted in God's sure promises to work his life out
And when his eyes beheld the woman born of his quest
He knew from the start that he had been truly blest.

Like an eagle, he soared to that wondrous mountaintop
With him flew the woman of his quest to the highest drop
There they basked in the warmth of the sun at the top
And learned to love and cherish every last teardrop.
