Louisiana Bound (2008)

Part 20 of 40 - Back at McGee's Landing

Most of us should have needed the washrooms. But there was no rush! In fact, the thought of getting a dinner for the majority took top priority. So there was no line up. What a break!

Men do have urinals in their washrooms. There was an old joke which I remembered from bathroom writings many years ago.

"In case of nuclear attack, stand under the urinal. It hasn't been hit yet." Really, I would not mention the urinals, but standing there, at that time was important to my story. The usual graffiti was on the walls. I don't read it, well, hardly ever. Above the urinal was a swamp picture. That got my attention. I forget what was in the picture! There were two pictures in the bathroom, if I remember correctly, but no alligator picture.

Hey, I could keep searching! A person would think there could be many swamp pictures in such a building. Opening the door to exit the washroom I was entering a darker area, the gift shop, eating, and other stuff area. My hope flickered. I imagined all the stuff on sale taking up wall space and leaving not much room for any pictures. It seemed to be that way as I stood holding the bathroom door open.

I let the open door go and it closed. No way! This seemed weird to me! The open door had hidden a picture on the wall which was now revealed. Not just a picture, but my picture! That black alligator that I had seen in the swamp! Would you believe that? I was looking directly at a framed photograph of a black gator in the swamp. The gator was in the water with most of the head above water, just like the creature that I had seen in the swamp. Double wow! I was sure now, I had seen an alligator in the swamp. It was a black alligator! The photo was full color and seemed to have small yellow stripes on the body that was visible under the clear water. A good feeling shivered through me.

Now shucks! I believed there was a reason for spotting that gator in the swamp. I was being rewarded so I could share this story with my deafblind friends. I would bet on that, because I believe that is how it works.

With the mystery solved, I wanted to share it with everyone. But for a long while I could only tell Melanie. And yet, that was enough. After all, we all share exciting things with our best friends. Yeah, that was enough! Now we could take a few minutes to check out the gift shop.
