Baptized by Fiery Whistles
On a blustery snowy Valentine's Day in 1987
After much wise counseling and exhortations
With hands-on prayer for a promise of heaven
My heart was filled with joy and exultations.
I removed my hearing aids for my friend to hold
Guided by the minister, I stepped into the pool
And was plunged into a watery grave so cold
Risen to new life, I now played the happy fool.
I towel-dried my head and put my HAs back on
And found them squealing like a bloody whistle
The peace and serenity that I felt was now gone
Those idiotic hearing aids! Smash, smash!
And now I close my epistle.
