ILLY: The Pot of Green Gold |
|
The air outside was starting to show signs of weather changes coming and why not, after all March had come; showing how beautiful the days would begin to look. Changes were going on all around. One such change that many people could see in others were signs of happiness and joy. Winter would soon be on the way out!
But March also means the day for the leprechauns to come out and dance around! Is it time for St. Patrick's Day? You bet your magic wand it is!
The Irish are well loved by Mr. ILLY, who enjoys taking part in Irish lore. He really enjoyed learning about the leprechauns method of making things happen!
One day he was out with Mr. Thomas, an Irish gentleman. They were discussing the rainbow as it had just stopped raining very hard. The rainbow was so beautiful and full of colors. The two men stopped to admire the brilliance of the rainbow.
"Sure is a beautiful sight, huh," Mr. Thomas said.
"Sure is," said Mr. ILLY. "Do you believe in a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?"
"Yes, I do!" exclaimed Mr. Thomas. "We Irish know there is a pot of gold there for all to enjoy."
The two men continued to walk and talk.
All of a sudden they saw small people running ahead of them! Some of these people ran ahead, some danced around the two men, and others did some cartwheels! There were a lot of them!
Mr. Illy and Mr. Thomas just watched all the little people as if they were used to seeing them every day.
Then looking back, Mr. ILLY was surprised to see a small set of horses and a paddy wagon coming his way. The paddy wagon navigated under his cane as he got out of the way.
"Wonder what is going on?" Mr. ILLY asked Mr. Thomas.
Mr. Thomas replied, "they are on their way to the end of the rainbow to the pot of gold!" "They will fill the paddy wagon with all the gold!"
Mr. ILLY was awestruck and wanted to follow the procession!
The two men walked and walked with the leprechauns until they finally came in sight of the end of the rainbow and there, sure enough, was the pot of gold!
Mr. ILLY danced up to the pot with some of the little people and when he saw the gold in the pot he had to do a double take because the color was not a sparkly yellow but a very shining green!
"Well, well, how do you like that, a pot full of leprechaun green gold!" Mr. ILLY exclaimed. "I bet it is worth a lot of money!"
"It is," Mr. Thomas said, "especially once you notice the face on the coins!"
"May I take a look?" Mr ILLY asked and without waiting for an answer picked up a coin and nearly fainted; there on the coin was an engraved picture of Mr. ILLY, the world beloved deaf-blind clown!
