Europe-Bound

Happy new year, folks! Feliz anno nuevo! Bonee annee! May 2009 rock for you!

I have some pretty interesting news to share with y'all.

It saddens me to say that I am once again out of a job, I left my current placement as a HIV/AIDS disability program builder because there were some situations that occured that made me and VSO reconsider my placement with the HIV/AIDS organization. Kaduna was becoming increasingly dangerous for me to live in, so VSO and I are looking into other options so I could return to Nigeria.

I am set on returning to Nigeria and finishing my business, and it looks likely I will return on March 5th this year, for several more months. VSO is intent on creating a new position for me that will have me living in the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja, close to the media powerhouses, the national government and non-governmental organizations so I can provide workshops on sign language, disability awareness and talk to the media about equal opportunities for disabled people in Nigeria. Fingers crossed it falls through. If it doesn't, I'm still returnng to Nigeria to gather my things and hopefully find another country to roll up my sleeves and work within.

So that brings me to the good news. I've decided to go to Europe for a month and half long journey, visiting several countries and meeting deafblind people, interviewing them for vlogs, giving lectures to deaf associations who invite me and especially visiting my old stomping grounds in Germany where I used to live during an exchange year back in high school.

My dates are as is:

January 14-16 London, England
January 16-22 Ireland
January 22-28 Scotland
January 28 - February 2 London
February 2-8 ???? Croatia? Spain? Morocco? Greece? If you know any one who can be my host in these countries for a week, do let me know!
February 8 - 15 NW Germany
February 15-23 South Germany (Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich) February 23-28 Zurich, Switzerland Feb 28 - March 5 ??????? any ideas?

If you are in these countries and would like to see me or have me give a lecture, contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or contact me if you'd like to be my host or know someone who would like to have me stay with them. Otherwise, I will book myself in hostels in the cities.

I look forward to my unexpected and awesome adventure travelling Europe solo, meeting new and old friends, and opening doors for myself and other Deaf Blind people.

And the best thing? More muse for my journals.

Tactile love,
Coco
