This issue (December) of the DEAF BAYOU e-news dedicates to Louisiana Association of the Deaf (LAD) for entering its historic milestone of century (100th) and staying stronger for 100 years and counting. Year 1908 – First President was G.G. Barham along with Elmer Berry, 1st Vice President, G. Gaiennie, 2nd Vice President, J.A. Mashaw, Secretary, and M. Holden, Treasurer whom first were elected at Baton Rouge,LA where the first reunion of the students of the Louisiana State Institution for the Deaf and Dumb gathered on May 27, 28, & 29, 1908. At that reunion LAD was founded. There were hundreds of attendants gathering to celebrate at the 100th Gala along with several entertainers performing in the past weeks. In the acknowledgement, LAD encouraged the crowd to support the name of LSD that remains the same and endorses as well. To find general information about LAD that can be found at http://www.LAD1908.org/
Followed by LAD there are active deaf organizations in this state of Louisiana…to search more, click on: Active Deaf Organizations
