From the desk of Editor:

Wishing you & your family blessed Thanksgiving!

November:  The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

Date(s) to Remember:

  • Daylight Saving Time: Sunday, November 2nd
  • Election Day (USA): Tuesday, November 4th
  • Veterans Day (USA): Tuesday, November 11th
  • Remembrance Day (Canada): Tuesday, November 11th
  • Thanksgiving Day (USA): Thursday, November 27th
------
This issue (November) of the DEAF BAYOU e-news dedicates to LSD Students whom were so brave for protesting the closure of the LSD school and are entitled to their education, in which they fight for their rights.

In addition, Editor Dan praises parents of deaf children who attend LSD by doing wonderful tireless round-the-clock on protecting their children’s rights without give-up behind the scenes. And they owe a great deal of thanks to the Advocacy Center by having done an excellent job working closely with affected parents and especially children. Please remember them in our prayers and give them thanks for being the bright light during this dark time in our lives!

Editor’s Note: This reminds Editor Dan the similar to last year’s Deaf-Blind (DB) Rally protesting for ‘SSP NOW’ that finally began the service last February. Like DB Rally, LSD Protest will always be remembered forever and be placed into the “Louisiana History” under History of LSD.

Louisiana School for the Deaf: According to an attorney of the Advocacy Center, LSD intends to reopen for all students on Wednesday November 5th, absent any unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, all of the days that the school has been closed will be made up, regardless of whether a student received interim educational services.

Soon-To-Be Fourth-Volume: Since DeafBayou.com started in December, 2005, it will approach into the next milestone of 4th volume next month.

Daylignt Saving Time (DST): As scheduled, just a friendly reminder to turn back one-hour on Sunday, November 2nd … That way, you will gladly have one-hour extra sleeping. J The next DST will be scheduled on Sunday, March 8th.

U.S. President Election: History is being decided. There are presidential races between Barack Obama and John McCain and will be announcd the winner on Tuesday late evening, November 4th. As of today, according to ‘mock’ poll in the DEAFBAYOU webpage, it shows 55% for Obama; 32% for McCain; 13% for undecided.

Happy 100th Birthday to LAD: Editor Dan salutes Louisiana Association of the Deaf (LAD) entering the historic milestone of the century (100th) celebration where we will gather to celebrate on Saturday, November 15th. This is strictly reserved only. Historically, LAD was founded in 1908 and now still stands strong; looking for many more to come.
