Windy, the Wonder Dog
"Woof, woof," came a loud barking sound. as ILLY stepped out of his front door to let Windy out to go to the bathroom. "Woof, woof!"
"What's the matter girl?" asked ILLY looking around to see what was making Windy bark. He saw some children playing with a volleyball, bouncing it around. ILLY knew immediately what had gotten Windy's attention. She loved to play with balls of all sizes.
ILLY decided to walk Windy over to where the children were playing. One of the children bounced the ball toward Windy who delightfully reared up on her hind legs and stretched her front legs out to 'catch' the ball, pull it down and start butting it with her head to make it roll.
The children raced after the ball with Windy at their heels. The children would bounce the ball toward Windy again and again who would do her routine over and over to the laughter of the children.
The children really enjoyed playing ball with Windy and Windy had lots of fun. It became an every day experience for her and the children.
Then one day Windy did not show up to play with the children so several of them went to ask ILLY where was Windy. ILLY welcomed the kids into his home and sat them down on the floor to let them know that Windy had died and gone on to the place where all dogs go to have their little dog talks about life!
ILLY explained to the children that is they ever heard a loud bark when they are playing ball that it would most likely be Windy coming to play with them. The children seemed a little sad at the news that Windy had died but were happy to know she might come play again.
One day a few months later there was a dog out in the area where the children were playing and the dog looked exactly like Windy. One of the kids grabbed the ball and bounced it toward the dog. Right away the dog leaped and 'caught' the ball then pulled it down and sank her teeth in it! Instantly the ball became flat!
The child ran to get the ball to tell ILLY what had happened. ILLY came out to take a look at the ball and saw the dog still hanging around. ILLY took one look at the dog and said, "Well, well, I guess that is Windy! But she must be an angel dog because the real Windy would not pop a ball like that big volleyball you were playing with."
The little boy looked at ILLY and with a bright smile on his face said, "If that dog is an angel dog then this ball must be God's volleyball! That means that God sent Windy back to play with us!" The happy little fellow ran off to tell all his friends that Windy, the wonder dog was back!
