Denham Springs, Louisiana (DBE) – Beat the HOT and HUMID summer! Hitting the water continues before the hot summer is out; more water fun activities to Editor Dan but remains in Louisiana.
It’s believed to be the largest number of deaf & deaf-blind participants (nearly five (5) dozens a.k.a. close to 60) gathering at the Tiki Tubing along with many tubes carrying with ice chests (drinks and lunch) floating on the current river last Saturday the 2nd all day.
No communication devices or hearing aids needed…unstoppable chatting in ASL while riding on the floating tubes moving by itself – thanks to the current river that flow the water movement better than using their hands but rather, use ASL to comminicate. J
If you are one of them whom missed this time; we may consider to have one again next year trying to beat the record of the largest ever to participate, maybe more than 100’s…who knows? Personally Editor Dan urges everyone keeping DEAF ALIVE running to strengthen its culture to better our fun-filled activiites.

Anothr strong ‘DEAF ALIVE” atmosphere…Next day some of them went en route on a short trip to Baton Rouge (15 miles away) where the traditional annual ICDA Deaf Picnic take place at the Catholic Deaf Center along with approximately 364 attendees meeting new and old friends to mingle.
