To Whom It May Concern:
When you have the opportunity to meet and talk with Dan Arabie, for any length of time, you realize you are with someone special, not due to anything except Dan’s boundless energy and devotion to improving the lives of Deaf-Blind people.
Dan and I became professionally affiliated when I became Executive Director of the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf (LCD) in 2004. Dan worked tirelessly for the Rights of all Deaf-Blind Citizens in Louisiana. Recently, I read where Dan organized Deaf-Blind Citizens to insure the Louisiana Legislature was informed of their SSP needs and other service needs. These advocacies by Dan lead to a state-wide project to train and provide more SSP services throughout Louisiana. Dan has repeatedly shown that he will work tirelessly for securing better services for all Deaf-Blind people.
For this reason alone, I support Dan for this position. Beyond this, Dan's personal efforts to communicate to the community at large the issues facing Deaf-Blind people are endless. Just in the time since I left Louisiana, I have received numerous communiqués about individual activities and community events. This "personal" effort portends what benefit he would be to any organization he works for.
Please let me know if I may be of additional assistance.
Respectfully submitted,
W. Fred Roy III
