This issue (June) of the DEAF BAYOU e-news dedicates to all fathers in honoring Father’s Day as observed throughout the world.  The Father’s Day holiday, as observed today in the United States, celebrates fatherhood generally and the wonderful contributions of fathers to society.  It falls on the third Sunday of each June. One Year Later:  As you may aware of Historic Deaf-Blind Rally that marks one-year anniversary today.  As leader of ‘Deaf-Blind on the Move’ and ringleader, Editor Dan especially wants to thank the countless demonstrators who last year had contributed their time and effort by participating into the Historic Louisiana Deaf-Blind Rally fighting for SSP service. Without them, many quality lives would not have been possible.  Highlights such as Flashback can be found; click on: Deaf-Blind Rally.

 

2009 AADB Presidential Campaign:  Editor Dan declares to run for President of the American Assocation of the Deaf-Blind (AADB), national deaf-blind organization next year along his running mate, Tim ‘Hulk’ Jackson (South Dakota) being chosen as Vice Presidient.  DBAction now becomes ‘Dan – Hulk campaign headquarter pushing deaf-blind citizens to bring life back to AADB.  Click here to see a video of Dan – Hulk 2009 AADB Presidential Campaign, thankfully to ex- world’s famous deaf-blind chef, Danny Delcambre for his strong endorsement.  Editor Dan will make press release of these names of his campaign team sometime in June…Be on the lookout for his public notice!

 

Off to Atlanta, Georgia!:  Editor Dan is invited by Georgia’s Deaf-Blind Awareness committee to give his presentation scheduled on Saturday, June 28th and also plans to hit on the road of his campaign run surrounding the state of Georgia, and even takes some helpful tips from past Martin Luther King (MLK) while touring at the MLK museum considering being national powerful leader to better quality lives of nation’s deaf-blind community.

 

NAD DB Workshop:  The deaf-blind workshop entitled "The World of Darkness & Silence" was accepted for the 49th Biennial NAD Conference, July 7-11, 2008 at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans, LA and is scheduled on Wednesday, July 9th at 2:30 PM.  There will be three (3) co-presenters:

Dan Arabie, Jackie Broussard, & Mark Landreneau, all natives of LoUiSiAna addressing those different topics.

New Additional Section - Poetry:  Editor Dan is pleased to announce that DEAF BAYOU e-news has added a new section: Poetry such as poems, etc. contributing by Melanie Bond of Michigan.  Melanie’s contributing poetry titled, ‘My Indian Man’ is now released and can be found at the Poetry Section.

 

ILLY, the Deaf-Blind Clown:  Here’s another humor from Mark Gasaway, BA, MA, ‘ILLY, the Deaf-Blind Clown’ from Georgia providing a comical joke every month…His contributing comical joke titled, ‘The Swooshing Angel’ is now released and can be found at the Humor Section.
