This will be an "Education Autobiography" of me!
As I know that, many of you Louisianans have grown to know me as a former naïve of Lafayette, Louisiana. I was born and raised in Louisiana. I attended the Louisiana State School for the Deaf from 1964 – 1977. Upon graduated, I continued my journey in to the Education World that never cease in my heart. My goal remains to be a mystery!
I went to National Technology Institute of the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. I obtained my Associate of Applied Science in Medical Lab. Technology. I chose this field because it was a challenge and that in career wise, it will always be changes. Example, new diseases will and always will be an endeavor of the science research. I knew very well that I would not be bored of the same “dead end” routine. I love to learn new things everyday! I landed a job in New Iberia. Louisiana after I graduated from NTID. I employed at the Gulf Coast Regional Institute. We performed all kinds of tests on various breeds of monkeys. Sadly, to say that it was “animal test” in my opinion. However, the experience was worth the education to my expanded knowledge. After being there for a year, I was ready to move on. I landed a job in Houston, Texas.
I worked at the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center for 17 wonderful years! I run all kinds of test such as blood type, Hepatitis, Syphilis, HTLV, and much more. Later in that few years, I was an Assistant Supervisor for the third shift. I have been on the third shift for a very long time. This job has never been boring as they constantly add new equipments and tests. Unfortunately, later in that year there has been some changes in the administration level that effected my long hours and stress whereas I had an increased tension of classic migraine. My physician put me on disability. This is when I resigned myself from working with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.
A few years later down the unpredictable road, a fellow friend of mines had recommended me the job at Tampa Bay Academy in Tampa, Florida. Tampa Bay Academy is a Psychiatric Treatment Center for Children and Adolescents. I was trained to interact with and supervise these children. The children with me are under my care and a behavioral management program that I am delivering as part of their treatment governs my activities with them. This job was an excellent life experience I have ever encountered! I worked very close with their Therapist. Tampa Bay Academy has given me the benefit by allowing me with their open arms to reach as far as my talent/gift goes beyond call. I obtained my certificate in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, as I am one of the three Deaf people in the world who is certified. I became a Milieu Coordinator, supervised the staff, coordinate the staff schedules, and lead many trainings and meetings for my beautiful fellow staff. After 4 years of my endeavor challenge, I have decided to reach my goal in obtaining my Bachelor in Psychology in order to obtain my desirable goal in Behavioral Analysis. I will then be obtaining my Master in Behavioral Analysis. In addition, I plan to get my certification and License.
I will be enrolling at University of South Florida in the upcoming fall semester! I am so exciting and looking forward to it! My deepest desire is to go on a mission to the new developing world where I can reach the human beings’ heart with my quality and skills that I have obtained all my life. I received all this from a very resourceful human beings and I want to share that with the next special human beings! May the Light Be With YOU! |
