Using CapTel for Conference Calls E-mail

In response to an inquiry from HKNC's NW Regional Rep, who is deaf-blind, the following information was shared regarding use of CapTel for conference calls.  I found this information interesting and it could be of use to some of your consumers.

As always, ... if you do not want to remain on the distribution lists for my info sharing, please let me know.  Also, if you think you know someone who wants this info, check with them and I'll be glad to add them.  Finally, ... please do drop me a line if you find any piece of information useful and applicable to your work or life.  I need to know what's working for you.  Thx.  CC

Here's the info on CapTel:

Ø      WebCapTel can indeed be used for conference call use. The quality of the overall experience of course will be affected by audibility and clarity of all participating speakers, and the speed of the dialogue as the conversation proceeds.

Ø      The WebCapTel user may call into a 1-800 number conferencing service/conference bridge.

Ø      Speakers announcing themselves each and every time they speak, and not speaking too quickly can facilitate conference-calling success.

Ø      Speaking distinctly at a normal pace will allow the captionists to have time to caption all speakers accurately. Ideally, it would also be helpful if there is a slight pause between each speaker.
